Alumni Profile: Kevin T. Wade, Contracting Officer with the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board

Six (6) years ago, I began my 1102 (Contracting Professional) career at the U.S. Department of Education (ED). I came in as a GS/9 Fellow and worked my way up to a senior level Contracting Officer (FAC-C Level III). My family at ED helped mold me into a leader and experienced Contracting Officer and negotiator.

We’ve been through being short staffed to being a fully operating contract shop, spearheading some of the Government’s most scrutinized contracts. I can’t tell you how much I’ve loved this place that came to be my home. Some of the most amazing people I’ve come across.

Sadly, but even more exciting, I recently decided to take on a new opportunity at the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) in a promoted position. I’ve put all of my energy into being a trusted Contracting Professional that can responsibly manage multi-million-dollar requirements for the federal government while also taking on leadership roles and being a mentor to many. Completely looking forward to this new opportunity and can’t wait to hit the ground running in this role and adding value. Farewell ED and greetings FRTIB!
