Introduction to Da Park: UMES EY East Campus Ambassadors

Good afternoon Dr. Banks, Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Brown,

My name is Da Park, a junior accounting student at UMES.I completed a Launch internship at EY this summer and received the email below to refer anyone on campus. With this six-week internship program, I was able to see all three different service lines, Audit, Tax, and Consulting, connect with professionals, and was able to gain real experience and valuable insights on what I would like to do in the future.

I was fortunate to be part of this internship because 1. I did not think about doing an internship because I had no information as I was a fresh transfer student at UMES, 2. I had no idea that these firms hire interns about a year earlier than the program's starting date and 3. I was going to do one in the Summer of 2023 since I plan to graduate in December 2023. I was contacted by a recruiter at EY around February, advising me to apply if I was a NABA member. I gave it a shot with no pressure because I was not planning to do one.

Long story short, I was accepted, had an invaluable experience over the summer, and received an extended offer for an Enterprise Risk Consulting internship next summer. In addition, I received a message from a recruiter at one of the regional accounting firms in MD. She mentioned that one of the partners at her firm tagged my profile because he/she was intrigued by my EY experience. I interviewed for their Audit Associate role that starts in January 2024 and just received a verbal offer.

I think this is a great opportunity for students to get their foot in the door, connect with professionals at the big accounting firms, and gain experiences. I'm also forwarding the brochure about the Launch Internship program.
