Ms. Anu Akil is School-wide Awardee for the School of Business and Technology

Join me first in congratulating our outstanding students recognized at the 68^th Annual Spring Honors Convocation. The University honored 774 new members of the Deans’ List (a grade point average of 3.50 or higher) as well as students receiving department and/or school-wide awards of excellence.  School-wide awardee for the School of Business and Technology is Ms. Anu Akil.

Ms. Akil is a senior finance major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.961 on a 4.00 scale. In addition, she is a member of the UMES Women’s Track Team and was a member of our award winning Federal Reserve Challenge Team Our UMES team of six undergraduate students: Anu Akil (Business Administration), Ne'Angelo Lake (Business Administration), Genesis Mason (Marketing), Efoehe Suleman (Marketing), Teddy Tazewell (Marketing), and Wade Wilkins (Agribusiness) were semifinalists in the national Fed Challenge Collegiate competition 2020. We were one of 18 winners in a pool of 65 universities in the national competition.

UMES's team is ranked first in the State of Maryland and DC this year. We are now competing against UNC Chapel Hill and Virginia Commonwealth university which are the state level winning schools in North Carolina and Virginia respectively. One of the three state winners will be a national winner. Faculty Coaches: Dr. Monisha Das, Dr. Muhammad Ali, and Dr, Rexford Abaidoo.
