Risk Overview

The Risk Management team plays an integral role in Exelon’s decision assessment for strategic and operational activities by identifying and minimizing risk through high quality quantitative and qualitative analysis. The team sets tolerances for appropriate risk taking to protect Exelon from unexpected events.  

Program Description

The Risk Management Rotational Program is a 3 year entry-level program intended to provide top-talent college graduates exposure to different disciplines within the Exelon Corporation Risk Organization. Associates will meet program objectives through hands-on experience, mentorship, and energy industry exposure to ensure a well-rounded knowledge of Risk.

During this program, the associate will rotate through different departments within Risk Management for 1-year rotations over the 3 years in the program. Below is a listing and brief description of each department and location:

Credit Risk (Baltimore, Maryland). The Credit Risk team is tasked with protecting Exelon’s balance sheet through best-in-class risk mitigating techniques. This team works to ensure Exelon’s commercial partners meet their contractual obligation from a credit perspective, providing our competitive retail and wholesale businesses with exceptional end-to-end support.

Market Risk (Baltimore, Maryland). The Market Risk team is tasked with developing and overseeing the risk framework for the commercial operations of Exelon’s competitive business and ensuring that activities remain within the market risk appetite set by senior management. Additional responsibilities include compliance oversight of the commercial business and confirmations and exchange management.

Risk Analytics (Baltimore, Maryland). The Risk Analytics team is tasked with supporting Exelon’s competitive retail and wholesale business by evaluating risks inherent in new and existing transactions. This team is also responsible for the monitoring of forward commodity prices and liquidity.

Enterprise Risk Management (Chicago, Illinois). Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a strategic business partner and key enabler in the transformation of Exelon into the leading diversified energy company through its leadership in creating and managing an integrated risk management process for enterprise-wide risks (strategic, financial, operational, regulatory/compliance, and reputational risks). This process empowers the board and management to make more informed risk/return decisions in order to maximize firm value.

Upon successful completion of the program, the associate will be placed in a Risk role with the following being considered: performance, mutual interest, and business needs.

Minimum Requirements/Skills

Undergraduate or graduate degree with a minimum GPA: Cumulative 3.0/Major 3.0

Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

Open to coaching and feedback

Eager to contribute in a team-oriented environment
